Headache

Headache
  • Headaches are classified into the

    • forehead

    • temporal parts( Migraine )

    • top of the head

    • back occiput, etc.

according to the location of the pain.

  • There are over 150 types of headaches in western books, and most of the patients will take pain killer, but if you would choose a pain killer free treatment, acupuncture and Chinese medicine will be the best choice.

  • Acupuncture treatments depend on the meridians to gain the accurate diagnose with location and cause of the disease, normally receive good results, that is the reason why more and more western people choose acupuncture treatment instead of taking pain killer.

  • Many patients with neck and shoulder pain have not yet reached the scope of cervical spondylosis, many are diagnosed with neck and shoulder syndrome, and even cervical and lumbar syndrome.

Neck/Shoulder/Back/joint/Lumbar/Limb pain

Neck Treatment
  • Talking about the holistic view of Chinese medicine, the human body is a whole, so there is a mechanical relationship between the muscles of the human body. When the muscles of the neck and shoulders are tense and the body line of force changes, the muscles of the back muscles, hips and thighs will also be displaced, resulting in continuous pain. This is the cause of the Neck-Shoulder Syndrome and Neck and Lumber Syndrome.

  • In our clinical treatment of acupuncture and moxibustion, most of the diagnosis is based on the differentiation of the meridians and collaterals. According to the circulation of the meridians, it is determined that it is on a certain meridian, and its location can even be determined

  • It can be seen from the circulation of the meridians that the Small Intestine Channel of Hand-Taiyang and the Bladder Channel of Foot-Taiyang are intertwined exactly on the back of the shoulder. Whether it is the Small Intestine Channel of Hand-Taiyang or the Bladder Channel of Foot-Taiyang , whether it is the Governor Channel or the Yang Qiao Channel, they are closely related to the body's motor function-the function of the muscles. The main symptoms of the neck and shoulders, such as pain, muscle spasm, arthralgia, and atrophy, are all related to muscle problems.

Back Pain
Physical therapy on leg
  • If you show the muscle structure of the neck, shoulders, and back, you will see that the muscles are also arranged in layers and crisscross. There are diagonal muscles, slightly longitudinal muscles, lateral muscles, and large and small rhomboid muscles. The muscle groups are intertwined, and the meridians are intertwined, so they work together to treat muscle problems. There are transverse meridians, which is the Small Intestine Channel of Hand-Taiyang and the longitudinal meridians, which are the Bladder Channel of Foot-Taiyang.

Insomnia

  • Sleep is a rhythm. Even if there are many external stimuli, you have a regulating rhythm for your body. If you can regulate it and make it produce a benign rhythm, you will succeed.

  • So what is the rhythm? Rhythm is a rhythm in your body that is mainly sympathetic or parasympathetic.

  • When sympathetic excited, the body is tense, then the heartbeat speeds up, the heart rate blood vessels contract, and the pores open.

Lazy Morning
  • When parasympathetic is excited, you will enter quietness, your heart rate will slow down, your pores will also close, and people will enter a quiet state and rest. It is a sympathetic excitement and a parasympathetic excitement alternately.

  • Our idea of acupuncture treatment of sleep problems is to excite the parasympathetic nerves and inhibit the sympathetic nerves

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

Stomach Pain
  • Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine help decrease symptoms of IBS by facilitating and enhancing the functions of digestive organs, regulating bowel habits, assisting in release of hormones and neurotransmitters, reducing abdominal pain and bloating and stabilizing stress and anxiety that can contribute to IBS.

  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common functional gastrointestinal diseases. Since there is still no complete cure for IBS so far, symptomatic treatment is often adopted. Treatment of IBS by Chinese medicine has attracted wide attention because of better efficacy and less side effects.

Upset Stomach

The first position is the root of the belly button. In fact, it is a way to inhibit sympathy through intestinal peristalsis, increase in metabolism, and then indirectly excite parasympathy. This position is below our belly button, which is also called Shen Que.

  • Exciting sympathetic nerves refers to the position of the belly button. If we pierce under the belly button and excite the venous network of the intestines and abdominal cavity, then the nerve plexus of our greater omentum will be excited at this time, and bowel movements will increase. Then the increase in bowel movement will inhibit our sympathetic nerves, and the brain will be in a completely relaxed state.

  • If you can have a rhythmic, magnitude exercise, it will be a very good help for your sleep adjustment.

  • The second method is the ear vagus nerve method. Among the 12 pairs of cranial nerves, only one of the 12 pairs of cranial nerves is the vagus nerve. It is superficially located on the body surface, and the vagus nerve is the representative of the parasympathetic nerve. Therefore, we use ear acupoints to treat insomnia. A very promising and very good auricular method. This is the main method in our Cheng's acupuncture treatment.

  • The third method is that we should not use the limbs as our main method in the process of acupuncture. Instead, we must find ways to stimulate the head, neck, and occiput.

  • So the fourth method, we know that this sympathetic and parasympathetic part of the human body, there is a place where sympathetic and parasympathetic exist at the same time, that is our spine.

  • Then the "Shen" of the five internal organs is hidden in the heart, and the "Shen" in the heart is scattered in the five internal organs. Therefore, the heart controls the mind and the five internal organs can affect the heart.

Stress/Anxiety/Depression

Woman on Window Sill

Depression has become increasingly prevalent in modern society, with the World Health Organisation predicting that by 2020 depression will be second only to chronic heart disease as a major health problem worldwide. About two thirds of adults will at some time experience depression severe enough to interfere with their normal activities (Mintel/YouGov, 2006). Women are twice as likely to experience depression at times of hormonal changes, such as pre-menstrually, pregnancy, after childbirth and menopause. Almost everyone has experiences low mood at some point in their lives. However, when life circumstances become overwhelming, transient feelings of not being able to cope or anxiety can get out of hand, leading to full blown clinical depression. In addition, chronic health problems such as long-term pain can trigger depression.

  • Chinese Medicine is a comprehensive holistic system used for hundreds of years to affect mood. Acupuncture can effectively influence the complex interaction between our emotions and the body chemistry, hence promoting emotional and physical well-being.

  • Studies indicate that acupuncture has an a positive effect on depression by regulating the brain’s mood chemistry, increasing the levels of “feel-good” hormones called endorphins and serotonin. Research has shown that some acupuncture points affect parts of the brain that are known to reduce sensitivity to pain and stress, as well as down-regulating the ‘analytical brain’ which is involved in anxiety and worry, thus promoting the relaxation response.

  • A recent systematic reviews, found that acupuncture is similar in effectiveness to anti-depressant medication and should be recommended for patients with depression (Zhang, 2010)

Intensive Diabetic Care For Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes

Diabetes is a number of diseases that involve problems with the hormone insulin. Normally, the pancreas (an organ behind the stomach) releases insulin to help your body store and use the sugar and fat from the food you eat. Diabetes can occur when the pancreas produces very little or no insulin, or when the body does not respond appropriately to insulin. As yet, there is no cure. People with diabetes need to manage their disease to stay healthy.

Chinese medicine believes that the five internal organs of the human body are weak, overeating fat and sweet, and emotional disorders are the main causes of thirst. The affected viscera are mainly lung, stomach and kidney, especially kidney.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

TCM treatment of diabetes is based on the principle of overall regulation and balance of Yin and Yang for dialectical treatment, which can be divided into the following three types:

1. Yin deficiency and dry heat (early diabetes): manifested as polydipsia and polydipsia, dry throat, dry tongue, eating too much but still hungry, red tongue, constipation, red tongue, less fluid, yellow moss, slippery pulse or number of strings. It can be treated by nourishing yin and clearing away heat.

2. Deficiency of both qi and yin (mid-diabetes): manifested as fatigue, shortness of breath, spontaneous sweating, aggravated by movement, dry mouth and tongue, polydipsia and polyuria, diarrhoea in the early morning, constipation, sore waist and knees, pale tongue or tongue Red and dark, with tooth marks on the tongue, thin and white coating with little fluid, or with little coating, and weak pulse. It can be treated by replenishing qi and nourishing Yin.

3. Deficiency of both yin and yang (for those with longer course of diabetes): manifested as fatigue and spontaneous sweating, cold limbs, sore waist and knees, dry ears, polydipsia, or swelling and oliguria, or diarrhoea, impotence and premature ejaculation , The tongue is pale and the fur is white, and the pulse is thin and weak. It can be treated by warming yang and nourishing yin.

Yin deficiency is a common feature of the three types, which runs through the whole process of diabetes, and is considered to be the internal factor of the onset and the root of diabetes. The deficiency of both qi and yin is the transitional period of diabetes, which is the basic type of diabetes. Therefore, in traditional Chinese medicine, herbs that nourish qi and nourish yin are often used to improve clinical symptoms and lower blood sugar.

Essential tremor ( ET)
  • Essential tremor ( ET) is a nervous system (neurological) disorder that causes involuntary and rhythmic shaking.

  • It can affect almost any part of your body, but the trembling occurs most often in your hands — especially when you do simple tasks, such as drinking from a glass or tying shoelaces.

  • Some people notice that their tremors improve slightly and temporally 2-4 hours after they drink alcohol

  • ET can happen at any age, but it most often appears during adolescence or in middle age (between ages 40 and 50).

  • A longstanding clinical literature points to an association between essential tremor (ET) and Parkinson's disease (PD); indeed, anecdotally and in small retrospective series, it has been shown that ET patients may eventually develop PD,1–6 and in a prospective follow-up study, the risk of incident PD was approximately

  • Acupuncture, combined with other TCM modalities such as moxibustion and herbs, is a good method for reducing hand tremors and other symptoms of essential tremor, as it has been demonstrated to have positive effects on the generation of cells in the brain and nervous system, as well as reducing stress and anxiety.
